Botox (Botulinum Toxin A)

Wrinkles, or the fold lines in the skin, are caused by muscle contractions. In some cases, they result from (excessive) muscle activity and can be softened by relaxing the underlying muscles with Botox. By relaxing the muscle, the overlying skin gets the chance to recover, as it folds less. This results in softened wrinkles.

Botox is a protein that temporarily blocks the signal transmission from nerve to muscle. Because the product can be injected very precisely, its effect is highly localized. This allows for controlled relaxation while maintaining natural facial expressions.

Common Botox treatments include frown lines, forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, and bunny lines.

The effects usually last between 3 to 5 months.

Fillers (based on hyaluronic acid)

Temporary fillers based on hyaluronic acid are used to restore lost volume and soften wrinkles that cannot be treated with Botox.

Common uses include treatment of the nasolabial fold, mouth corners, cheeks, jawline, lips, and temples. Fillers come in various densities and consistencies, allowing for a suitable product for each application — always aiming for natural-looking results, as long as natural beauty boundaries are respected.

Depending on the application, hyaluronic acid fillers are placed in or under the skin. They are gradually broken down by the body (via the enzyme hyaluronidase). On average, the results of a filler treatment last 12–18 months, depending on skin type, metabolism, treated area, and lifestyle habits (like sun exposure and smoking).

The Profhilo® treatment
