What is (medical) microneedling?

At Huidkliniek Parkstad, we consciously choose medical microneedling. With medical microneedling, tiny sterile needles vibrate into the skin to create microchannels. This treatment activates the skin’s natural healing process at a deep level, promoting new collagen production. As a result, the skin becomes firmer and more even-toned, with a fresher, more radiant appearance. Medical microneedling is more effective than “standard” microneedling and delivers more visible results. Microneedling is also known as mesotherapy and is a highly effective and safe treatment suitable for a wide range of concerns, such as:

The microneedling treatment

Depending on the area treated and the intensity of the procedure, the skin may appear red and feel warm or tingly. This sensation typically subsides within a few hours. Medical microneedling has a short recovery period. After the treatment, you will receive two aftercare products to support healing, included in the treatment price.

For optimal results, 3 to 6 sessions are recommended, with 4-week intervals.

Preparing for your Dermapen treatment

• Stop using skincare products with active ingredients at least three days prior to your treatment. Examples include: retinol, arbutin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and lactic acid. If unsure, feel free to contact us.
• Keep in mind that your skin will be sensitive to sunlight right after the treatment. Avoid direct sun exposure and bring sunglasses if needed.
• The fine lines around your eyes can also be treated with the medically certified SkinPen. Please ensure you are not wearing (eye) makeup when arriving for your appointment.
• If you are prone to cold sores (herpes virus), please let us know in advance.

Aftercare advice

• After 24 hours, you may also start using sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) and makeup again. Be sure to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours. We’re happy to recommend suitable sun protection products!
• Avoid hot showers, saunas, intense exercise, swimming, and baths for 72 hours after treatment.
• After 5–7 days, you may resume your regular skincare routine. We’ll be happy to advise you on the best products for optimal and lasting results.
• Minimize direct sun exposure for up to 4 weeks post-treatment. Always apply a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher regularly.
